ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian scientists have created a giant map of the universe. The map, showing the location of 8,400 trillion stars in 210,000 galaxies, will help to measure the amount of dark matter. Map making is part of the project called 2DF Galaxy Redshift Survey, a joint enterprise of astronomers from the Anglo-Australian Observatory, the Australian National Museum, the University of New South Wales and scientists from overseas institutions. Mathew Colless, from the Australian National University, says that the map is far from being a comprehensive representation of the universe as the total number of galaxies is estimated at 400 billion.
