ABIX via COMTEX) -- The US has made a further move in its fight against terrorism. Scientists, seeking to find a cure for anthrax, have turned to the public for assistance. Intel and Microsoft, together with the University of Oxford, United Devices, and the US National Foundation for Cancer, want to turn millions of idle personal computers around the world into a virtual super-computer. The resultant computer would be capable of screening anti-anthrax drugs much more rapidly than conventional super-computers. With about 3.5 billion compounds to be tested, scientists are seeking volunteers to run their software as a screen-sever.
