Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2002

Jan 23, 2002 (The Age

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian regional pay television group, Austar, has forecast a slight improvement in its profit levels. On 22 January 2002, the satellite broadcaster released unaudited accounts for the 2001 calendar year. The group is forecasting a pre-abnormal loss of $A343 million, slightly better than the $A360 million loss expected by the market. The results were released as negotiations between Austar and its financial backers stalled. The company has cut 400 staff and expects to achieve savings of $A90 million for 2002.
