Australasian Business Intelligence, January, 2002
Jan 29, 2002 (Australian Stock Exchange Announcements
ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Stock Exchange will relaunch trading in share futures for the first time since the late 1980s. From 30 January 2002 the ASX will introduce the ASX Mini200 and ASX Mini50 as an additional equity product which will clear through the existing derivatives clearing system. These will trade on the ASX's OM Click trading system, which is currently used for options. The Mini200 will compete with the Sydney Futures Exchange's SPI product. The current facilities of the ASX have been designed to accommodate trading in futures and further expansion of the futures product range will only require a minor cost in software licensing.
