ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australia's John Holland Constructions has won an $A11m civil works contract on the North West Shelf. It calls for the partly-owned Leighton Holdings subsidiary to establish concrete foundations and civil works to the so-called "off-plot" sections of the $A1.8bn liquefied natural gas expansion project being constructed on the Burrup Peninsula of Western Australia. The off-plot sections include the sulphinol and thermal combustion units, air separation and power generation facilities. A 60-person strong workforce will take around 11 months, commencing in late January 2002, to complete the contract for North West Shelf joint venture operator, Woodside Petroleum.
