ASX warns on disclosure rules.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Around 450 of the firms that are listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) are yet to comply with new disclosure rules. The new rules require companies to advise the ASX as to the number of shares each of their directors hold in the company as at 1 January 2002. Among the firms that are yet to provide the ASX with this information are nine of the top 20 firms on the ASX, including Westpac, Coles Myer and Brambles. The ASX will give such firms until the opening of trading 9 January 2002 to provide this information before issuing them with follow-up notices. Almost 1,500 firms are listed on the ASX.
