Giants unite to set internet standards.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- IBM and Microsoft have formed a new consortium called the Web Services Interoperability Organisation. The group, which also includes Hewlett-Packard, Oracle and Intel, in addition to co-founders SAP AG, Fujitsu and Accenture, has outlined its objectives as standardising and popularising Internet services, and increasing software sales. Standards for listing of and communication between web services have already been approved by the World Wide Web Consortium and other organisations.
