ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian alcohol producer Foster's released an operating review by business unit as part of its half-yearly results. The firm reported that its Carlton and United division overcame weakened overall profit to record a 5.5 per cent rise in earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) for the half-year to 31 December 2001. EBIT from Australian Beer lifted by 4.8 per cent to $A242.3 million over the six months, with Carlton Draught, Cascade Premium and Carlton Midstrength all achieving double-digit growth. Australian Leisure & Hospitality made a recovery during the second half of 2001. Its EBIT rose by 4.7 per cent to $A62.2 million. The EBIT of Continental Spirits jumped by 33.3 per cent....
