Laws dealing with spam to be scrutinised.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- E-mail spamming can be as damaging to a computer network as a computer hacking incident. The chief executive officer (CEO) of the Australian Internet Industry Association, Peter Coroneos, says that the negative impact of spam e-email is not as highly recognised as it should be. The Australian Government will assess the effectiveness of legislation which concerns spam e-mail, a task assigned to the National Office for the Information Economy. The decision follows the release of a report by the Coalition Against Unsolicited Bulk Email on the rise in spam e-mail activity.
