Cheap Internet fares fly high.

Australasian Business Intelligence, March, 2002

Mar 22, 2002 (The Sydney Morning Herald

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Misleading and contradictory is the description applied to research that indicates a rise in Australian discount Internet airfares of 20 per cent. The research was conducted by consumer information company, Infochoice. Qantas Airways executive general manager of sales and marketing, John Borghetti, said the Easter holiday period was a major factor in the apparent rise in Internet air fares. Those same fares may later go down, depending on demand, he said. Virgin Blue fares have remained steady, apart from a rise on routes to Perth. Infochoice states that it considers Internet fare levels from the same perspective as a consumer.
