ABIX via COMTEX) -- Hay Group has conducted "Fortune" magazine's most admired companies survey since 1997. Each year, the consultant asks 10,000 directors, analysts and executives to rank companies according to nine attributes, including innovation and management quality. Familiar names occupy the first three positions in 2002, with General Electric in first position, followed by Wal-Mart and Microsoft. The software giant retained its high position courtesy of a 53 per cent share price rise in 2001. Enron fell out of the list, from number 25 in 2001, while Walt Disney dropped from 22nd to 31st. Federal Express (FedEx) entered the most admired list for the first time, at number seven.
