Talking ATMs slot right in.

Australasian Business Intelligence, March, 2002

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Westpac is helping the elderly and disabled. In 2002, it is planning to unveil talking automated teller machines (ATMs). These are designed to offer verbal instructions to the elderly, blind or disabled. The user can plug in an ear piece, given out free at neighbouring branches. There is a bigger keypad and a slot that is easier to use. Westpac will first roll out nine machines, in Sydney and Melbourne. They will be operational by the close of April 2002. A similar move is being planned by the National Australia Bank.
