ABIX via COMTEX) -- Wireless communication systems are set to revolutionise the workplace. Sales of personal computers (PCs) have been falling in recent years, while handheld devices are increasingly popular. Cahners In-Stat Group predicts that mobile telecommunications will ultimately replace PCs. Its figures indicate that sales of personal digital assistants (PDAs) increased by 17 in 2001 in the face of a general downturn in the computer sector. The Palm i705 and Handspring Treo 180 handheld devices are set to increase sales still further by amalgamating mobile telephone technology with PDA concepts.
