Sir Rich lobs a few bob.
Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2002
Apr 17, 2002 (The Mercury
ABIX via COMTEX) -- The 1700 staff of Australia's Virgin Blue Airlines have received a $A1000 bonus. The bonuses were announced at the end of a press conference hosted by Virgin Blue chairman, Sir Richard Branson, and Patrick Corporation managing director, Chris Corrigan. Sir Richard indicated that Virgin Blue will only bid for former Ansett Australia terminals if fares can be kept low. Sir Richard said the carrier believes it can compete effectively against Qantas Airways and still retain discount fares. Corrigan said Patrick's 1000 staff will not be given a similar bonus, noting they already receive productivity bonuses.
