ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian industrial services group Brambles merged with Great Britain's GKN in 2001. Ron Burke, formerly of the National Australia Bank, is group general manager of corporate affairs at Brambles. Burke says the group's business models are attuned to environmental demands. He notes that ethical investment is expanding its scope to disclosure and corporate governance, which he finds more interesting than the "beauty contest" approach embodied in reputation indexes. Brambles' CHEP pallets operation transports goods worldwide, using between 160 and 180 million pallets. The pallets, some of which are made of native forest timber, are reused.
