Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2002

ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian banking industry has standards for Internet banking that ensure access issues for the aged and disabled are covered. Two years of work by the Australian Bankers' Association and the Human Rights & Equal Opportunities Commission went into formulating the new industry standards. The adoption of the standards is voluntary, though as they set benchmarks for customer service delivery, it will be wise of banks to take notice of the standards. Bank web sites are expected to be compliant with guidelines issued by the World Wide Web Consortium for electronic banking by November 2002.
