ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian market for telecommunications offers consumers chances to make savings on their mobile telephone use. There are 11.1 million subscribers to mobile services in Australia, with the prepaid services sector leading the market. The Australian Communications Authority expects that following the increase in prepaid services, contracts will be replaced by pay-as-you-go services. Lisa Montgomery, GM of InfoChoice, says network coverage is a more important factor than price when shopping for a mobile service. Jonathan O'Dea, head of Credit Card Sentinel, says security is best achieved if mobile owners take personal responsibility and secure their SIM card.
