ABIX via COMTEX) -- Creagh Cole helped develop the Scholarly Electronic Text & Image Service (SETIS) at Sydney University. He obtained assistance from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, as the relevant expertise did not exist in Australia. SETIS started operating in 1996, making full-text humanities databases available via the web. Creagh noted that the university owns SETIS and so does not have to pay annual fees. SETIS used a grant from the Australian Research Council to digitise the AusLit database. As its role has increased, the service has been involved in developing text and images.
