ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Army will acquire a land warfare combat training centre in Townsville by 2004. As part of this, defence contractors are tendering for the provision of an electronic combat training solution as part of Project Land 134. The first phase of this equipment acquisition project will provide applique laser and radio frequency based systems. The whole project is known as CTC-LIS, a commercially-supported turnkey system that is modular, transportable and features open architecture. Three shortlisted industry groupings appear to lead the project tendering process.
