Global link-up a step closer for ASX.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) is proceeding with plans to establish links with other exchanges around the world. The ASX already has links with the New York (US) and the Singaporean Stock Exchange, and has conducted talks with several exchanges in Europe, Asia and the US. The ASX has not yet entered a formal agreement with any one exchange. ASX managing director, David Humphry, reportedly told a stockbrokers' conference that the ASX is engaged in detailed discussions with a major exchange in Europe. Humphry is reported as stating that the ASX and the Federation of European Stock Exchanges are seeking a two-way link with the US market.
