ABIX via COMTEX) -- Researchers from the University of Southern California believe they have developed technology that is almost as vivid as reality. The project, Remote Media Immersion, offers video imagery of a higher definition than today's most advanced broadcasts. It combines this with surround sound audio to give the experience of actually being in the action. The technology is based on an extremely high bandwidth Internet. The system will allow films or other programs to be selected from a standard web browser, which is integrated with the entertainment technology. Researchers believe the recent rush on wide-screen televisions and home theatre systems will encourage development of the product for consumers.
