IIA's draft code ready for Cmr.
Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2002
ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Internet Industry Association (IIA) has a draft code to deal with issues raised by the introduction of Australian privacy legislation. The IIA has sent the draft to the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner for approval. Peter Coroneos, the CEO of IIA, says the draft code goes beyond requirements and that Australian privacy legislation needs to better reflect the needs of industry. The IIA code will allow Australian businesses to be recognised as responsible in their handling and collection of personal information. The draft takes a strong position against unsolicited electronic mail and is sensitive about data connected with children.
