Regional banks cashing in at ATMs: NCR.

Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2002

ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian banks are looking to outsource the operation of automated teller machines (ATMs). They are looking to replicate the high profitability of ATMs in clubs and hotels, the most profitable and fastest growing segment of the industry. According to ATM specialist, NCR, Australia's smaller banks are making better profits from their ATMs than their larger rivals because they are more customer focused and upgrades are easier. A survey at the mid-2002 Pacific ATM Industry Association conference, held in Sydney, showed that the banks believe ATM outsourcing will grow by as much as 15 per cent in 2003-04, with subsequent cost savings in the vicinity of 20 per cent.
