ABIX via COMTEX) -- Giant US firms have come under the microscope, due to corporate failures and accounting "irregularities". Sadly, there have been similar problems with European firms, highlighting continuing problems in Europe. The market is closely watching the fortunes of France-based Vivendi Universal, which may be facing financial problems. There are allegations of less than perfect financial disclosure. Internal auditors have also picked up problems at the Swiss-Swedish engineering group called ABB. Italy's Fiat group has been struggling with lacklustre performance and heavy debts.
