AFTA faces up to major issues.

Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2002

ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Association of Travel Agents (AFTA) is holding its annual conference in late July 2002. Mike Hatton, the CEO of AFTA, notes that the last year has held a number of triumphs. AFTA has obtained the membership of all significant retail chains and emerged from years of losses to record a $A66,000 surplus for 2001-02. It has also battled the repercussions of Ansett's demise, such as credit card charge backs, and of the US terrorism attacks. Hatton is especially concerned about the rejection of the Passenger Sales Agreement by the International Air Transport Association. He thinks the decision was driven by a few major carriers.
