ABIX via COMTEX) -- MYOB and Quicken are regarded as Australia's two most popular small business accounting software packages. With 350,000 customers, MYOB is said to have around 100,000 more customers than Quicken, which is produced by Reckon. MYOB is a wholly Australian-owned and developed product, while Quicken is ultimately owned by the US-based Intuit. Quick Books Pro 2002 has a recommended retail price of $A1,195.95 for two users, along with an annual maintenance charge of $A499.95. MYOB Premier has a recommended retail price of $A1,099 for three users, along with an annual maintenance charge of $A440. Quick Books Pro is probably easier to use than MYOB Premier, while the latter supports software packages that are generally used by accountants.
