Privacy Commissioner tackles public listing.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Privacy Commissioner has established a consultative group to discuss the issue of unsolicited e-mail messages, or "spam". It is generally agreed that spam could be minimised by limiting the availability of e-mail addresses. However, Nick Ellsmore, of Electronic Frontiers Australia, warns that it would be difficult to enforce any proscription on the use of e-mail addresses culled from the Internet. Meanwhile, the Internet Industry Association has released a code of conduct covering the privacy of personal information.
