"Black holes" in Telstra sell-off.
Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2002
Jul 30, 2002 (The Courier-Mail
ABIX via COMTEX) -- Queensland Information Economy Minister, Paul Lucas, says rural telecommunications must be improved before Telstra is fully privatised. Lucas says that the Australian Government should not even consider selling its 51 per cent stake in Telstra until it meets previous promises to improve rural and regional telco services. Lukas says that large parts of rural Queensland still lack mobile telephone coverage and proper digital services. Australian Communications Minister, Richard Alston, has responded by accusing Lucas of being misleading and misrepresenting Telstra's commitments.
