Sanyo to produce TVs and projectors at plant in China.

ABIX via COMTEX) -- The manufacturing of liquid crystal display (LCD) devices will commence early in 2003 in China by Sanyo Electric. The Japanese-based electronics group will also commence the production of plasma display panel television sets. The worldwide sales target of Sanyo Electric is Y5bn or more from 2002-2003 onwards. The Japanese company first became part of the plasma display panel television sector in the middle of 2001. Toshiba may also move to initiate the manufacturing of plasma television sets in China. The factory of Sanyo Electric is located in the Guangdong province.
