Innovation centre seeks vision.
Australasian Business Intelligence, August, 2002

ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Internet Innovation Centre is located in Sydney. The recently established centre is a joint venture between the CSIRO and Macquarie University. Dr Geoff Garrett, the CEO of CSIRO, who spoke at the centre's launch, says Australian businesses remain reluctant to assist the funding and commercialisation of new technologies and ideas. As a result, said Garrett, many Australian-derived ideas end up being commercially developed overseas. The centre is working on a number of projects at the present time, including a biometric face recognition system.
