Qantas Airways has repeated its criticism of the Australian Government's decision to limit its foreign ownership. Qantas chairwoman Margaret Jackson made a strong connection between the airline's capital investments and its ability to employ Australians. Jackson indicated that the Government's decision caused Qantas's cost of capital to be one to two per cent higher than its competitors', and said this could ultimately limit its ability to offer Australians jobs. Profitability was reduced by a higher cost of labour as well as capital, Jackson inferred. In the meantime the New Zealand Government has indicated it is favourable to the airline taken a minority ownership in Air New Zealand as long as it itself retains...
