Nufarm to pay $75m for Crop Care.

Nufarm is a fertiliser supplier company in Australia. In August 2002, it announced that it will buy the agricultural chemical company Crop Care for $A75 million. Crop Care is a joint venture between Orica and its subsidiary, Incitec. Both Orica and Incitec will make a loss on the sale. The acquisition is still subject to the scrutiny of the competition watchdog. Crop Care supplies the Australasian and several overseas markets and has revenues of around $A140 million. On 28 August 2002, Nufarm shares rose to $A3.50, and Orica shares rose to $A8.95, while Incitec shares were lifted to $A7.90.
