ABIX via COMTEX) -- Two giants in the bottle manufacturing business are fighting for a share of the wine bottle market in South Australia (SA). The veteran player in this war is ACI Glass, which has made wine bottles in SA for decades. ACI Glass, owned by the US-based Owens Illinois, has spent over $A280 million on bottle making since 1998 and lifted production to 840 million bottles a year. The newcomer is Amcor Glass, which is now fighting for market share. It opened its new $A140 million glass manufacturing plant in SA on 8 May 2002.
