Village Roadshow is an entertainment group in Australia. Its cinema business is booming after cinema-goers flocked to blockbusters like "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings". On 12 September 2002, the company nevertheless reported a seven per cent fall in full-year net profit to $A51.1 million. Sales dipped by 25 per cent to $A794.8 million. Village controls the Austereo radio network and runs theme parks and film production businesses. The gains in the cinema division were offset by losses in Argentina and lower profits from film production. The results were below expectations and the stock dipped by $A0.04 to $A1.40.
