Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2002
Sep 17, 2002 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)
A possible future CEO at Australian brewer, Lion Nathan, is in fact exiting the beer business. Walter Bugno, seen as a successor to Lion CEO, Gordon Cairns, at the end of calendar 2004, has been head-hunted by US-owned Campbell Soup Company. In Australia, Campbell produces Arnott's biscuits, soups and sauces and has the recently bought Snack Foods brands. Bugno will be driving a business with operations across Australasia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, China and Japan. Bugno says the opportunity to run a 5,000-employee business is a challenge.
