"User centred design" devotees maintain that if people cannot use a type of technology, then it does not work. Firms tend to sacrifice user-centred design in favour of selling products by offering additional features. Mark Hurst founded Creative Good in the US. His firm applies "customer-centric" principles to digital devices, for clients including General Motors. Hurst maintains that IT firms have had ample time to resolve problems with personal computers. Professor David Sless, of the Communication Research Institute of Australia, claims the IT industry is considering customers because it has reached a "brick wall".
