There are major benefits for banks and other financial institutions in adopting speech recognition technology. Tim Courtright, the MD of Inflection Technologies, an Australian speech recognition technology provider, cites research conducted by Purdue University in the US which found that human-assisted calls in banking can cost up to $US4 a time. By way of comparison, calls served by speech recognition technology cost just $US0.45.
