Outgoing chief says industry consolidation takes time.
Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2002
Sep 30, 2002 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)
Retiring Australian dairy identity, Alan Tooth, suggests industry consolidation will take time. The retiring MD of New South Wales-based Australian Co-operative Foods (ACF) says the players need to come up with a solution that suits the entire industry. He feels that global operators - Danone, Nestle and Sodima - will have to forget traditional rivalries to make rationalisation work in Australia. He believes a "pragmatic" solution will be found for all three that also suits local players, such as ACF and National Foods. This will take time.
