What a policy shambles!
Australasian Business Intelligence, October, 2002

The Australian Government seems determined to do all within its power to destroy Australian shipping. While shipping is already one of the most difficult business sectors, local shipping also suffers from several conflicting policy initiatives and a transport minister with little empathy for the industry. What makes this even more intolerable is a lack of communication between government departments on important issues. This was recently illustrated by the Australian Department of Transport's admission that it did not know the Australian Taxation Office would publish a destructive draft ruling on ship chartering.
