Companies failing to put their customers first will do so at their peril. This is the blunt warning from Carlson Marketing Group's Asia-Pacific strategy and planning director, Richard Batterley. He was commenting on a survey Carlson recently carried out with the American Productivity & Quality Center. Of 31 respondent companies, only four were identified as having strong relationship marketing initiatives. Batterley's view is that companies must individualise customers and produce the type of products they want. He says that once a customer gives his or her loyalty, there is a strong chance the consumer will remain with that company and buy more of its products or services.
