National Australia Bank's (NAB's) online wealth management operations look set to be merged. National OnLine Trading and the business NAB inherited from MLC, Your Prosperity, recorded losses of $A14.2 million in 2001-02. According to Andrew Dyer of Boston Consulting Group, too much capacity was initially created in the online wealth management sector. He believes that while there is a committed market for such services it may not be as large as first anticipated. Mark Johnston, of AC Nielsen Consult, agrees, saying that unlike online banking, which is extremely popular, online wealth management is more complex, yet he still expects to see significant growth.
