Some oil giants go greener.

Leading oil companies are increasing their investment in renewable energy projects. BP Australia has created one of Australia's biggest solar cell manufacturing facilities, while Woodside Petroleum has a dedicated renewable energy unit called Metasource. Woodside plans to spend $A100-to-$A120 million on renewable energy development over the coming three years. Over the next five years, global group Shell will devote $A1 billion to refining new energy sources. The use of hydrogen in the automotive sector is forecast to expand. Shell Hydrogen is one of the largest producers of the gas.
