Ten brands Foxtel deal "unworkable".
Australasian Business Intelligence, October, 2002
Oct 03, 2002 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)
In Australia, Ten Network has formally opposed the planned pay-TV alliance between Foxtel and SingTel Optus. In a written submission to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC), the free-to-air television network said the proposed Foxtel access arrangements are unworkable. This is because Foxtel has failed to grant access to its customer service infrastructure. Ten argues that undertakings Foxtel and Optus have given the ACCC do not overcome the merger's anti-competitive elements. Ten says it is also concerned at Foxtel's potential to dominate interactive digital services in Australia.
