Lion roars but slips in beer battle.

Australasian beer and wine giant Lion Nathan hopes to regain its lost market share in Western Australia (WA) with its new Sovereign beer range. The company, which owns Swan Brewery, confirmed a new marketing campaign in WA when it unveiled its 2001-02 results on 7 November 2002. Swan Brewery's WA market share is believed to have dropped to below 48 per cent, as compared with rival Carlton & United Breweries' 49 per cent. Lion Nathan has declared a fully franked final dividend of $A0.12 per share, after reporting a $A162m full-year net profit for 2001-02 on revenues of $A1.71bn. Lion Nathan shares gained $A0.03 to close at $A5.46 on 7 November 2002.
