AFTA-TCF showdown.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) is dissatisfied with the way the Travel Compensation Fund (TCF) operates. Mike Hatton, the CEO of the federation, will meet with the fund on 26 November 2002 to discuss the shortcomings of the consumer compensation scheme. The federation has been angered by the TCF transferring compensation claims to agents through credit card chargebacks. The AFTA sought assistance from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission but the commission said that no breaches of the Trade Practices Act has occurred.
