Action heats up on interactive TV.

Australian interactive and digital TV will receive a boost from a pay-TV content sharing deal. The approval of a deal between Foxtel and Singtel Optus by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) means Foxtel could begin digitising its services. With a number of platforms available, industry observers are waiting to see which one Foxtel chooses. Optus has already trialled interactive TV in Sydney, freezing subscription numbers at 3,000. There is also speculation that Foxtel and Optus may offer subscription TV over broadband access channels, such as asymmetric digital subscriber lines.
