Virgin caught in Dial High club.

Australasian Business Intelligence, December, 2002

The Australian competition regulator has won a conviction against Virgin Mobile for false advertising. The small Australian mobile telephone service company was ordered to pay court costs to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC). It was found to have misled customers by not revealing they would need to meet the cost of a handset if they did not effect monthly charges reimbursement for a two-year period. Virgin Mobile's advertising featured a claim, in its "Dial High" club packages promotion, that there was no binding contract in respect of minimum charges or term.
