Banks determined to put the branch back in the picture.

Westpac Banking CEO, David Morgan, has declared to shareholders that the branch bank entity has returned. Westpac has remodelled nine branches, including the Bank of Melbourne's Moonee Ponds branch in Melbourne, Victoria, to attract customers to purchase financial products, as well as conducting retail banking. ANZ Banking Group has realised the importance of being liked by its customers, and has begun an attempt to resurrect the role of the branch bank manager. Australia's major banks would not have re-established branch operations, however, were it not for the need to compete for financial services with independent specialist fund managers.
