The Australian new car industry is again tipped to record strong sales in 2003, with figures of between 800,000 and 835,000 expected. The continued strength of the sector has seen the share price of companies that benefit from strong car sales, such as car retailers Adtrans and AP Eagers, and components manufacturer Pacifica, perform strongly since the beginning of 2002. As of 27 January 2003, shares in Adtrans were up 52.4 per cent on January 2002, while AP Eagers' share price has risen from $A4.00 to $A4.97. The share price of Pacifica, which also exports to Asia and North America, has risen from $A3.29 in January 2002 to $A3.95.
