Majority miss out on reform cash.

Australian Government grants for workplace reform have been issued to only 19 tertiary institutions. This is less than half of the 41 tertiary institutions that were eligible. Those that failed to qualify include Monash University, Macquarie University and the University of Tasmania. The University of Sydney received $A5.1m in the latest funding round bringing its total over three years to more than $A17m. The Australian Higher Education Industrial Association has criticised many of the criteria for the funding eligibility as inappropriate. The National Tertiary Education Union has also criticised the program, introduced by the Australian Government in 2000, to encourage reforms outside of the enterprise...
